Tricia and Michael couldn’t be more adorable for their San Francisco engagement session. When planning their session, they wanted one of their locations to be their San Francisco apartment since it was their first home together and it would be incredibly meaningful to them both. We love being able to document something so special and sentimental so of course we were game! San Francisco is also one of our absolute favorite places to visit. We fell in love with the city when we first visited two years ago after Ashley and Colt’s beach elopement in Carmel and Monterey. We loved it even more when we went to the heart of the city for Winnie and Kevin’s day-after session last summer.
With Tricia and Michael, we explored San Francisco together, going to the Wood Line and Lyon Street steps near their home, doing a few portraits at their home, and then venturing out to Pier 7 and Marshall Beach as the sun was setting. For the Wood Line and Lyon Street Steps, Tricia and Michael kept their outfits casual and stylish with deep blue jeans, a chambray shirt, and a loose and flowy top. They matched their shoes together with muted brown boots. Wood Line was just absolutely surreal and it was humbling to see such a sight in person. The Lyon Street Steps became a fun spot to visit with its well manicured hedges, surrounded by romantic banisters and lamp posts.
For their at-home session, Tricia and Michael got even more comfy with soft sweaters, cute socks, and a fluffy cardigan. Keeping it fun and intimate, we let them get really close together and snuggle each other on the couch. With the color palette of their home and the abundant natural light, their at-home session ended up being so timeless and intimate.
For Pier 7 and Marshall Beach, Michael wore a suit and Tricia wore a silky black dress. Pier 7 is an iconic spot. It is on the water and right behind it, is the Transamerica Pyramid. After Pier 7, we made our way to Marshall Beach. As we were walking down the trail to the beach, the fog from the ocean started to engulf us and the landscape in front of us became otherworldly. After the session, we later found out that Marshall Beach is actually a “clothing-optional” type of beach and we were very much relieved to not see anyone there taking advantage of that.
